Take to the Sky.

Myself as Tinker Bell from the Disney Fairies franchise. Photo and editing by Vince [Darkain] at Katsucon 2010. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed myself at Katsucon, nor how wonderfully diverse the Gaylord was for photography. There may have been several feet of snow outside, but inside the resort there were world-class fountains, a small village, jungle-like foliage, a river, giant flower pots, austere marble hallways, a gazebo, giant ornate doorways, and more. In essence, cosplay heaven. XD

On to Tink, this costume was very last-minute in that I pushed aside several other projects about a month before the convention because I fell head-over-heels in love with the Disney Fairies franchise. I'd never been much for Disney's version of Peter Pan, though I do love JM Barrie's book, and I can honestly say I have always been completely indifferent to the character of Tinker Bell. However, something about these new movies just turns me into a SAPPY GOOEY DOOF and while I love all of the new fairies the animators introduced, I felt a special connection to Tink because, well, watching her was like being served a huge slice of humble pie. We're a lot more alike than I care to admit [both perfectionists, a bit overly serious, and quite touchy about our work, among other things] and watching Tink get herself into trouble and then [unlike the Tink of Peter Pan] learn from her mistakes and grow tremendously as a person? It took the character to another level, and made her very likable. I'll go into greater detail on the construction of Tink next time. For now, please enjoy this beautiful photograph from Vince!
