Construction Notes:
Finally I'm getting around to posting my new costume from Otakon, Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time! I love Natasha Allegri's artwork for the show and she's drawn so many gorgeous, "fancied up" versions of Peebs, so I decided to combine some of her designs for my costume. I tried to stay faithful to Allegri's colour palette, with Bubblegum wearing soft pinks, while her hair is typically more of a peach-pink. The dress is made from a matte satin with sparkly organza bows. I love Allegri's use of pearls in one of her Bubblegum designs, so I tried to incorporate them in the bows, necklace, and earrings (not pictured). The crown is made of craft foam, puff paint, and gems, and it was fun to make something so obnoxiously gaudy! XD I grappled with the wig for a while, since Allegri's designs usually show Peebs with extremely thick, wavy hair and side-swept bangs -- very different from her stick-straight 'do from the show -- so I teased out a Claudia wig from Arda. (I think next time I'll relax the curls just a bit for more length.) For the bodypaint, I had to combine two different pots of Ben Nye to get a pink that was "just noticeable." I didn't want to be obnoxiously pink, so I aimed for a shade that was just a bit pinker than my natural skin tone. The flask was loaned to me by my partner-in-crime, ~Windaria, who made a super gorgeous Allegri-inspired Fionna costume to wear around with me. <3

All in all, this was a fun costume to make and I loved being recognized by so many kiddos at the convention! I wish I had had time to make more for Otakon, but it was a nice change to NOT spend my entire convention racing back and forth to change costumes and do photoshoots. Maybe I should relax at cons more often?
