Hi guys!

I owe you all a huge "thank you" for the comments/faves on my most recent Terra upload, "Cure." It was a bit of a shock to log in the next day and find over 600 messages waiting for me! I am still playing catch up, largely due to DA's ridiculous (ie, RI-DI-CU-LOUS) spambot, but I sincerely appreciate everyone's support. I have a backlog of TONS of photos from the past year or two to upload and hope to share those with you soon!

Now that summer is over and the school year is in full swing, I am finding myself once again torn between a desire to work on costumes but little-to-no free time to do so. (For those of you just joining me, I teach music to 500+ students at an elementary school, which obviously is a tremendous drain on both my time and energy levels.) My biggest professional goal this year is actually to not work myself quite so hard, take things a day at a time, and generally minimize stress levels. I am a nose-to-the-grindstone workaholic who takes delight in planning every second of every day, even if it means staying at work 3-4 hours late, so this whole "don't sweat the small stuff" and "roll with the punches" attitude is... different. Hopefully it will become a more natural process soon, as I'd really love to have my evenings free to work on some fun crafties and costumes!

This fall and winter I am planning on attending the Texas Renaissance Festival, as well as Anime USA (November 18th-20th in Crystal City, VA) and Katsucon (February 17th-19th in Oxon Hill, MD). I am hopeful to have at least one new costume for each event. Currently I'm collecting supplies for Kira from Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal, Sally from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, Terra Branford from Dissidia Duodecim, and Eternal Neptune from Sailor Moon Stars. As always, I make no promises; these are simply the most realistic costume options for me at this particular moment!

Time for some sleeps. Thanks again for your support; take care, everyone! <3

oo you're going to be at AUSA and Katsu? It's my first time going to both of these cons (I just moved into the area) so maybe I'll run into you! I just have to know...how do you manage teaching and cosplaying? I'm currently student teaching in a kindergarten class and find myself overwhelmed with very little free time... I want to work on costumes but can't :( It would blow off stress but also would simply be cause for procrastination. You must have much better time management skills than I do! haha

I wish there was some super-secret method for managing a time-consuming hobby like cosplay on top of a hectic teaching career, but unfortunately I'm stumped as well. I very rarely work on anything cosplay-related during the school year. I'm lucky if I can throw together dinner and pick up the house before I exhaust my energy levels completely, let alone rack my brain over costumes. I am trying to push myself to do more costumes this fall/winter, but I honestly doubt I'll get through even half of my list. Teaching is just such an exhausting career (as you well know) and something that takes up every inch of your brain all the time. Good luck to you!

I miss your butt like woah, dear! We really need to cosplay together again in the near future! BTW, I have an idea for a Sailor Moon skit, which may or may not come into fruition. Let me know if you're interested! <3

That does sounds interesting! Well, I know that Krys and I will have Uranus and Neptune for Katsucon. We have a huge Stars group planned, but your guess is as good as mine as to whether everyone will come through in the end. I know I'd be willing to do a skit at a future con, depending upon the logistics.

Good to see you're doing well Tess. The same situation is here with me with the promotion it seems like work is starting to detract me from cosplay life but I'll roll with the punches as well :D

I'm a search engine optimizer in addition to my marketing and community management at my job. Technically I'm working for two companies but with it comes full time work and a bigger paycheck. I will probably see if I can buy into the company's insurance program hopefully instead of using what I do now.

Search engine optimization is basically getting clients names onto the top of Google's rankings through various and creative means of creating link wheels and 2.0 websites and blog comments with url links connected so whenever Google sends out a "crawl" they notice which companies are getting the most attention.
