For a change, I thought I'd upload a few in-progress or test shots of various costumes that, for one reason or another, have never been finished. The story behind Zuko is simple: I love playing around with cosmetics, and I can never resist characters that have ridiculous makeup designs. When I fell head over heels for Avatar a year or two ago, I should have known I'd one day end up with a yucky burn across my left eye. XD So this was mostly an incident of, "Hey, I've never played with liquid latex before and this hot man needs some love so let me put crap all over my face, throw on my Gaara wig, and dig out my Urahara jammies!" I don't really know if I ever intend to cosplay Zuko, but do stay tuned for a string of Suki costumes from yours truly. I need to cosplay her before the movie makes her uncosplayable. [It's easy to imitate a 2D character. Very difficult to replicate the body structure of a stringbean actress. ^__^;]
Please no critiques/criticism. I'd like to keep this gallery happy! <3
For not having used latex before, it turned out great. What you can do for burn scars, though, is put the latex on kinda-scrunched-up toilet paper, let it dry, and use it as a prosthetic. It looks wierd at first, but it gives the texture without layers upon layers. There's also nose and scar wax. /fellowmakeupnerd
Also, you don't have to worry about Suki in the movie, she's not even in the first one. I wore her laundry day outfit from a deleted scene in episode 4 to see it last night, I was so disappointed. D:
Amazing work on the burn makeup, I'm loving the flaky texture. From the thumbnail it reminded me of gara at first because of the eye liners, but then I read it's a gaara wig so it all makes sense that it would remind me of gaara haha. Zuko is an awesome character, I think it would look more like him without the eye liner/eye makeup though ^__^ Great work!
Ok, suddenly my comment on your Amano Aerith costume seems petty. Do people just not read the Artist's Comments, before they post their own comments?
Granted I know nothing about this character (a raptor disguised as a human, huh?) but I thought that the "burn" make-up was very well done. I also liked the disappearance of the eyebrow in the "burn" area.
To those who thought the "burn" area should have been redder: How about, instead of critiquing cupcake's work, you go out and make your own costume, just the way you think it should look? Oh, what's that? That takes too much work? It's just easier to nitpick other peoples' hard work? Yeah, that's what I thought.
Back to you, cupcake: Great endeavor, outstanding work, fabulous detail! Screw the lazy critics! Keep up what you do so well!
