Character: Tinker Bell and Iridessa from the Disney Fairies franchise

Construction Notes:
It has been a dream of mine to do a Disney Fairies group ever since I started working on my Tink costume last winter, and when my friend Dana asked about commissioning an Iridessa costume for Otakon I was only too delighted to help! Unfortunately her bodice, dress, and wings were still missing a lot of detailing at the time this photo was taken, but by Katsucon 2011 I'll have her all glitzed up and ready to fly. My favourite aspect of her costume was the wig - I don't normally get to do styles like this, with lots of tiny braids and fun gigantic bun-buns, so it was a definite treat! I will post a separate photo of her wig at some point soon, because I just loved working on it so much. (Definitely one of those commissions that I wanted to keep for myself!) For Iridessa I experimented with a cheaper wing-making technique, using organza rather than Fantasy Film. I have to say, I was not altogether happy with the way it turned out and definitely think I will end up going back to Fantasy Film on my next set of wings. It's a pain in the patootie to work with, but the filmy iridescence is entirely worth it! Back to Otakon, it was fun getting to finally shoot with Judy, after years and years of admiring her cosplay photography. I was thrilled with this shot, in particular. So mischievous and sparkly!
PS: If anyone would like to cosplay Disney Fairies at Katsucon 2011 or a future convention in the TX or MD/DC areas, please let me know! I am slowly trying to amass a group and would be very willing to lend my help in commissioning difficult bits of the costumes, such as wigs or wings. As I mentioned above, this has been a dream of mine for a long while! :3
