Myself as Bellatrix Lestrange from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Photo taken with self-timer in October 2007. This was my second serious attempt at recreating a movie costume [Corpse Bride being my first], and I have to say that it was an interesting experience! Recreating an existing costume is an entirely different ballgame than basing a costume off of a piece of manga, anime, or game artwork. The corset consists of about 12 pieces of leather, all hand-sewn together with leather cording [MY HANDS ;__;], the dress and mitts are hand-weathered and hand-painted, and the necklace is also handmade. You can't see any of them in this shot, but over 70 grommets were hammered into this by hand [the mitts and corset lace on]. I didn't know of the existence of grommeting tools at the time, and my goodness, I could have saved myself a good 2-3 hours! The only downside to this photo of the costume is that I was not wearing my "Bellatrix makeup" at the time. I normally am much more liberal in my application of eyeliner and lipstick when I wear her!

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. Our objective is to recognise deviants who deserve more recognition and to feature deviations with less than 10 original comments.
