'Amano' Terra Concept Art.

Preface: I am a thoroughly awful artist. It's taking a considerable amount of courage to post my concept artwork online, so kindly focus on the design as a whole, rather than the fact that I cannot draw hands, feet, or, well, ANYTHING. XP

I'm getting ready to start work on a new Terra Branford cosplay, and one thing I learned from previous experience is that you definitely need a game-plan before tackling anything in the style of Yoshitaka Amano. XD I had previously made a Terra costume based upon her CG design, with little bits and pieces incorporated from various fanart that I enjoyed. Having made a nice, demure Terra with darker reds, earth colours, and jewel tones, I thought it would be very fun to do the opposite end of the spectrum: A design based on Yoshitaka Amano's Terra illustrations, as bright, clashing, and rainbow confetti vomit-spattered as can be.

My primary goal was twofold: First, to arrange all of those bright circus colours in a way that I could stand. And second, to create a design that was largely different from my previous Terra design. Of course, you can't stray too far from the little red dress and boots [they're used in almost every Terra design Amano drew, as well as the CG], but I went with small mitts vs. longer mitts, two capes and beaded upper arm cuffs vs. armor, and variations in the sashes and jewelry. I'm also going to experiment with a different method of adding the floral design, which I had hand-painted on my previous Terra, to the fabric. I even found an interesting Terra design Amano had drawn for an unrelated artbook that showed red highlights in the tips of her blonde hair, which I've honestly never seen anyone do before! All in all, I'm very excited to be starting this project, and I can only hope I don't end up looking like Kefka in the end, LOL.
